Hi Guys,
I'm trying to find a hard starting problem I have with my 02 R1150RS and I want to find out what the factory spec is for the angles of the TB butterflies at all 3 positions of the High Idle lever.
I suspect mine are low...... My TPS or idle stops have NOT been interfered with.
Word is that the cable stretch and go out of adjustment. The bike is 15 years old after all..lol
Using a GS-911, I get :
Off=0.64°
Mid way= 1.59°
Max ( hold on ) = 3.19°
I have seen one mention that the mid position should be 4°.
( from 'Roger04RT' on the MOA forum, from a few years ago.... )
He then says he got best results with 3~3.5° at mid position.
This sort of info does not seem to appear in the specs anywhere I have seen.
I'd like to have a definitive figure to work towards instead of guessing or trial and error....
Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?
Steve
R1150 Throttle Butterfly Angle using GS-911
Re: R1150 Throttle Butterfly Angle using GS-911
Most of the activity on this site is geared toward airheads, even though some of us have newer Oilheads and such. I am attaching a link to a site that has free manuals to download, I have found these very good for providing information for working on my oilhead.

Thanks Jagarra. I suspect I will need 'inside knowledge' or trial and error, but have to try.
I'm familiar with the board. I have a few airheads as well...:0)
I'll check out the link and see what I can find.

I have everything covered on boards, this one for my airhead, MOA for my oilhead and Advrider for other vintage bikes.

Thanks for posting here. We do afterall have this oilheads section, not that it can really compete with other sites.

Re: R1150 Throttle Butterfly Angle using GS-911
I do what I can......
I got it sorted. I got some info that stated the butterflies should open approx 3° when the High Idle is operated.
I did this and now starting is good.
