What are your boots?

I have had the same pair of deerskin gloves for about 25 years. They are incredibly wear resistant.

OK, I don't really wear shorts or sandals when I ride.

My boots are probably not the best choice for motorcycling. They are a pair of steel toed safety boots, can't remember who makes 'em. Bought 'em from an industrial supply place. They are not laceups and I suppose in a bad crash they might come off. Probably not the best boot for the job.

A really old pair of BMW moonboots®.

They are not really safe for riding, as the stitching on one of them has fallen apart on the lower.
But they are still waterproof as hell. I use them when I need to go wading (geocaching) or for the freak deep snow.

My glove lady (Bertie) has closed up shop.
She was the one that took over the glove patterns from Thurlow when they closed up.

Little known fact -
Deerskin is more abrasion resistant than cowhide.
My gloves are deerskin.

Roo is more abrasion resistant than deer.

TCX X-five gortex for touring distances. Walkable,comfie, w'proof. I bought the TCX before the Oz Boxerworkers Tintaldra ride. When was that?


I have a pair of BMW gortex boots, unused, that I scored for a song on Gumtree. They'll replace the touring TCX eventually.

TCX X-action for commuting. They're an inch shorter, are very comfie, but slightly more fiddly to zip up. The flap and zip are laterally positioned. I prefer the inside but these are fine boots. Gumtree bargain. They replaced an old pair of BMW boots that finally lost their sole!


Held boots..a very recent bargain score...to replace the commuters when the time comes.


TCX are a non-descript boot, but excellent value. Hard wearing, excellent protection. Not too expensive.

I usually buy boots from www.motoin.de when they have a sale. Excellent savings.

Held used to have a nice touring gauntlet glove that had roo palms.
I looked around for them last night and couldn't find them.
But apparently most of their current lineup continues the tradition.

Held makes the "Steve" which I use for dry weather with a Roo palm. They are not water proof. BTW Gloves are one item you want to buy a bit tight.You want them to fit...like a glove!

They also make one called the tour guide which are all Roo. The are on closeout right now. They have perforated palms. You'd think there would be lots of Roo riding gear coming out of Oz. But I think those guys like their mutant rabbits.
