After months of speculation, Royal Enfield have finally revealed not one, but two new models powered by an all new 650cc parallel twin engine. Those two bikes are the café racer Continental GT and the more upright Interceptor.
The all new engine - which we initially believed to have a capacity of 750cc - features a single piece forged crank with a 270º firing order to give the engine a character and sound more akin to a V-twin. fuel injection is provided by electronic gurus Bosch.

Nice! The cycleparts look great. The motor too, but for some odd proportions. The cylinder barrel looks to be a bit to the rear of the cases. I presume there's a balance shaft in front of the crank.
The guard over the rear brake MC looks a bit tacky. I'm not sure why they couldn't tuck it out of harm's way to obviate the need for a guard.

Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.

They look bulky and heavy.
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

And the new Triumphs look even bulkier and are no doubt heavier. Wish Kawasaki would bring back the W.

After 20 years as a professional bike mechanic and 30 years as an engineer I know just enough to be dangerous !
