Maybe the clutch set the carburetor at that angle? (kidding)George Ryals wrote:It looks like a serious race bike. Check the intake angle compared to stock. Would love to see the rest of the damage.

Just purchased this 81' R65 with 45k miles. Looking to do a cafe racer/brat conversion.

Re: PICTURE OF YOUR BIKE/BIKES
There goes another one. Such a shame to see very good condition airheads turned into future junk.
I wish artists would find worn out examples to 'make their personal unique copy of what everyone else does, with a brown seat and header wrap'
Nothing to do with purism, all to do with appreciation.
There, I said it.

Ah now ME109, brown seats and exhaust wrap don't always happen. There are some quite tasteful airhead artworks out there - usually the ones where a lot of money has been added.
Duckytran, welcome to the forum. That's a lovely example of the breed you have there. Fresh and enviably young in miles, too. How did you come by that gem? That would cost a bloody fortune in Australia.
I hope you'll ride it for a while before you consider changes. You may find that it fits your purpose in its current condition. Or that your purpose will change to suit the bike. I recommend throwing it about on some twisty mountain roads for a while.

Re: PICTURE OF YOUR BIKE/BIKES
While we're all being grumpy old folk, I'd like to suggest to duckytran that he just take the fairing and baggage rack off and put on some low bars (not clip-ons) and give it a ride. And start a build thread, no matter which way it goes!
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.
Re: PICTURE OF YOUR BIKE/BIKES
Thank you all for your inputs. I completely understand everyone's point of view. I have a modified K75, but always wanted an airhead. I stumbled onto this one from a local collector. He bought a bunch of airheads to add to his rental fleet. Come to find out, he was not able to get insurance for older airheads for rental purpose. He took a loss and sold me this gem for $2k. I don't have time to tour, so I'm going to shed the front fairing and luggage/racks. I don't plan to chop up any part of the bike. What I do will be completely reversible. Luckily, the rear subframe/seat is removable. I plan to replace it with an aftermarket bolt on version. Will get a lower handlebar as well as new headlight and turn signals. This is a low budget build (grumpy wife/kids). Anyway, I do have an appreciation for original work by BMW. With that said, to each their own. Cheers!

Very nice looking Kustom K.
Now, how about the Vespa.
I know ZM has a soft spot for a pretty scooter but he's a bit shy about it.
