I know....this doesn't make sense, as the best tool for a job is specific.
Nonetheless, I do have an all time favorite tool:

I had a screwdriver that was the PERFECT size for limit screws on derailleurs. It vanished about a decade ago. This may have something to do with me not making my living working on bicycles anymore. That, and the unending poverty......
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.

Sad story. When I was a lad I found a Lambretta scooter abandoned in a field. So I took it home and took it apart. It had a small tip Phillips screwdriver screw driver. I still have it, and every once in a while, it's just the right one. It was very good on some derailleurs too!

I keep one of these in my tool box. Don't get a chance to use it much any more...

I remember using those oil spouts. Very satisfying to use! I can't imagine oil in cans wouldn't be way out of date.

My dad had this version:

Looks like it would work!

Definitely! Just sit the can on it, squeeze the handles together, and oil flows. I made a mental note that I was gonna get myself the same tool, but by the time I was taking care of my own vehicles, the cans were obsolete.

Just about at the same time oil should have become obsolete. Mind you, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt will keep the acrid fumes fouling our planet for some time.
