Hi all .
New here .
Have a few beamers with the R1100RS , 1995 model being the latest addition .
I am told by the previous owner that the gearbox output shaft has gone .
I have not started looking into it yet , bike came on a pallet and only got it last night .
Is this a common problem with this model , only 56k on the clock .
Are there any other inherent problems with this model .
Is the fix going to be expensive ??? .

Re: R1100RS
You may get a quicker response at the K11 Owners Group forum. Good luck.

Re: R1100RS
<t>I also have a R1100RS made in May of 93. The only major issue I have heard about is having to lubricate the input spline to the transmission where the clutch disc rides, has to be done about every 40K or so. Failure to do so can cause premature wear on the splines. I joined the MOA group as they seem to have the most activity on this model of the BMW.</t>
Here is a source to have your gearbox rebuilt if you choose to go that path. From what I have read, most riders with decent mechanical ability can change the input shaft themselves.
