Tragedy ...
Re: Tragedy ...
Thanks for your great support. We put Elgin to rest yesterday and I will find some time now to think about life, the universe and ... the Alaska trip. Not sure whether my answer will be 42, but it may well be.
Some of the above is fact, some is fiction, some is my personal imagination and some is just simple truth. [me]

You know what they say: the answer may be 42, but the secret is in understanding what the question is.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Thanks for everybody for his/her word of encouragement.
I just wanted to let you all know that I have made my decision about the Alaska trip in June of next year: it will happen as planned from late June to early August, but not on a motorcycle! Susan, my wife and best friend for many years (she even was my highschool sweetheart for some time) has unselfishly supported all my projects and trips and who would be a better choice! So Susan and I will make the trip together via car/RV. We will visit the places that my friend Elgin spoke of most and was looking forward to see: Denali National Park, Glacier Bay National Park and the ride to the Arctic Circle(s), both in AK and in NWT. In each of these location I will leave something of him. He was also keen to return home via the American Rockies, so we will go see Yosemite on the way back for him. We were also destined for the D2D rally at solstice in Dawson, YT but that is a motorcycle event that we won't attend as such.
As for my future riding plans: the last part of the TAT from Colorado to the Pacific Coast ist still outstanding and will have to do in lieu of riding in Alaska. I am planning that for 2012 or so and am encouraging any volounteers!
