Hello all, this is my first post so go easy!
I have got my dad's r90/6 and have been using it over the last few years in the summer occasionally. I am about to start a masters and I will be living around an hour and a half from the university.
My question is am I made to plan on using the bike as my daily commuter.
I will be living in London but the uni is outside of London. My major concern is overheating whilst stuck in traffic in the city. Is there anything I should consider altering to try and mitigate this or do you think this won't be an issue over winter in the the UK.

Overheating won't be an issue in the UK except in the most extremes of heat as long as the bike is properly tuned.

No, don't worry about overheating. Especially if you make a point of filtering in stopped car traffic as much as possible.
I've done colossally daft things in high temps lugging my Airheads up steep dirt roads (lots of load on the motor and no airspeed to cool things) and had no problem whatsoever.

Before I retired I commuted pretty much every day in the winter and my biggest problem was oil temperature that was much too low. Very rarely saw traffic jams though they would have been welcome as far as raising oil temperatures was concerned.
Because of the salt on the road I would coat the bike including engine block castings with waxoyl and clean it off in the spring. Only once in 14 years can I recall the engine getting hot enough to melt the waxoyl on the block and that was a traffic jam.

I rode a BMW R80RT with no oil cooler in north Texas in temperatures up to 109F with no problem.
