What the.......?! Looking around for carb kits for the '84 RS and this link popped up. Considering the high prices these days, think I'll order a set and look them over.

Re: El Cheapo CV40 carb kits
Long-time posters here may remember there's a few threads on the much much lower priced Stromberg carb diaphragms that work on our Bing 32 and 40mm carbs. I've used them over the years. They're thicker than OEM. Some may think the throttle response is not as brisk as original. They worked well for me.
Do a search on the forum for Stromberg to read more about it.

I've seen the same kits on Ali Express so there can be no doubt where they come from. The worry would be gaskets and diaphragms don't quite fit or don't last but If only half the bits worked it might not be bad value.

Stromberg may be okay but I would recommend staying away from anything from China. I purchased a set for my R100 on ebay. The diaphram was noticeably thinner while the o-rings seemed okay. I decided not to use it. I was given a refund minus shipping and told to throw the kit out.

I just opened up a 40mm off the RS tonight to rebuild. Diaphragm and the bowl and choke cork gaskets seem fine, but those o-rings....too thin for my liking. Plus half of them don't fit.r67boxer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 10:40 am Stromberg may be okay but I would recommend staying away from anything from China. I purchased a set for my R100 on ebay. In a perfect world, we could just order the o-rings themselves. Don't see that happening.
