Hi Jeff,

I must have a picture somewhere, but ont a digital one. My 75/5 was some sort of curry-coloured and it had a toaster tank. Beautiful bike at the time, and a wonderful ride with its short wheel base. The 750 engine was the best boxer engine ever made by BMW.

The R 100/7 has 38mm headers; the 40mm header were only used on the R 100Rs and from 1978 on on the R 100S. They were supposed to add some extra horse power along with the airfilter housing with 24 (?) holes, but according to many specialists here this was a mere myth.

Welcome from down under. I have a mate (Mal/7) who I know would love your /7. His /7 is a 78 with single disc. He is in the process of converting to twin.

A sign of relief when I read your quote above. In a recent accident on my 78RS I damaged both of my Staintune 40mm headers. They were replaced with Staintune 38mm headers swaged out to 40mm at exhaust port and muffler (Staintune cannot source 40mm SS tube anymore). I have been concerned about loss of HP, not that I have noticed mind you. You have eased my concerns somewhat.
