Harro Tank Bag

Post by heathbar »

Does anybody know why the belt of the Harro Tank bag that fastens around the steering column is excessively long? It seems unusual and inefficient. I have put it on my '75 R90/6 and the belt runs down the entire length of the bag. It sure seems odd.

Thanks for you input...

It wasn't exclusively built for BMW and other bikes have an even higher tank where the longer belt comes in handy! It works well with the 24l tank on my /5 where it runs about 1/2 of the length of the tankbag, IIRC. Stuff it nice and tidy under the tankbag itself and you hardly notice it. I have the big 40l.
Some of the above is fact, some is fiction, some is my personal imagination and some is just simple truth. [me]

Thanks, Stephen, for your reply. I will put your advice to work. In the meantime, I have been putting the long excess belt through the D-ring. This seems to keep the belt in place when at speed.

I have a 91 gspd and a factory bmw tankbag. It also has straps to attach front and rear. Fairly long ones as well. I found high winds would make it lean to one side so I use the extra strap length to double wrap the straps and now the bag stays put and there isn't a lot left past the buckle. I also use a bit of mesh drawer liner under the bag to protect the paint and keep it from moving.
Works great and wouldn't want to be without a tankbag.
