OK, went for a ride today on my 1998 R1100GS. I had 3 creeks to cross both ways. After I got back on the road, I hit a horrendous rain storm. What I then noticed was that the oil light on my dash was glowing ever so slightly and the temp guage on the dash had gone down to 3 bars. Now I know there was plenty on oil in the bike, as I checked the sight glass and it was half way up, having only just stopped the bike. Now with the temp guage even if I rode through a zub-zero blizzard the bike would still be running around operating temps. After a while of riding in dry weather the glow went away and the temp guage rose to normal.
So my thoughts on this were could there have been some sort of short due to the amount of water the bike had seen on the day? of could this be the start of another problem? Oil pump? Oil cooler? Oil line? Is there any way to detect problems with the latter aformentioned?
Cheers
Craig

I would expect that this will all clear up when the bike has been dry for a while, and gone through a full heat cycle or two. If it doesn't, THEN it's time to start investigating.

Yes good news. Thats is all that it was. Just a small short due to the amount of water that day.Major Softie wrote:Yes.Hunsta wrote: So my thoughts on this were could there have been some sort of short due to the amount of water the bike had seen on the day?
