Der Wasser Boxer

Post by CVA-42 »

The April edition of "On the Level" contains an article on the upcoming water-cooled boxer engine. A German-only magazine called "MO" reportedly contains a 5-page report on the new motor possibly to be shown to the public as early as Fall 2012 and in dealers' showroom by Spring 2013. The engine looks to be more compact and lighter with vertically divided crankcase. Cylinders and crankcase are cast as one part. Cooling ribs remain; radially mounted valves; possibly gear driven cams; integrated gear box (one oil circuit); wet clutch with multiple discs. Speculation is more horsepower with little or no increase in displacement from the "old" 1200 boxers. What do we think?
