Conflict of emotion
Re: Conflict of emotion
What's with the white stuff???????? Are you trying to compete with us Karazi Kanucks?

Yep Jeff, good stuff. Your son looks like he has BMW in his blood. Speaking of blood, I could never understand the appeal of the "blood clot" red paint either, looks like a rattle can job at best.
Re: Conflict of emotion
Gidday Jeff,
Excellent photo just before departure mate with the young fella....Priceless.
Yes no doubt it would be a little worring to send them out on a roadbike at a young age, but now it is our turn to have the headaches and have to do the waiting for them to ride back down the driveway just like our folks did when we were young, rectless and zigzagging across the country side...
He looks like he rode that well and sable on the grass for a first timer... I was impressed but don't go telling him that.
Good luck and hey mate, his got a great teacher.

Re: Conflict of emotion
We were fortunate with the weekend weather this year as we saw no rain at all. Earlier in the week had seen snow down to 500 metres so the rally timing was perfect.
Not as cold as years gone by either with morning temps at about zero celsius.
I bought a couple of thermal liners for our sleeping bags which proved to be quite effective.
Garnet, I don't think there is any competition. We'll take on anyone in the crazy stakes
........the blood clot, well this particular one didn't pass scrutineering with the colour being quite wrong, and that airbrushing!......
That's why I have never painted my silver ghost. The correct glasurit paint may be available but the airbrushing is paramount to an authentic finish.
That, and also because I haven't finished sand/rock blasting the RS around the countryside

I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Re: Conflict of emotion
I've sorted some photos, so I'll add my bit to the report:
There was a bit of the bleakness about on the way up the mountain on Friday evening. Here’s Doug and his R65, and my Brunhilde near the Cabramurra turnoff. The rest of the ride was in the dark, and cold. Fortunately, an innocent family of campers lent us their fire when we arrived at Yarrangobilly –
Lots of lovely airheads. Here’s Henning’s 75/5, still going strong

And nearby, as expected, the ‘fireworks’ for Saturday night (VW cases)

And there were shiny things. It occurs to me that owning one of these things must involve an awful lot of work. It would only take one speck of dust to make one look like shit.

Saturday night light show. Water does wonderful things to a magnesium fire

But the best bit is sitting around a good fire with a bunch of happy off-duty garden gnomes talkin’ bullshit

It was another great Alpine Rally, with near perfect weather and fine company.

Re: Conflict of emotion
Great pics Charlie, and thank you (and every one else) for another excellent Alpine Rally.
Ya know Henning's bike has 451,000 MILES on it!!
There were 11 bikes in our group. Every one of them had a bmw roundell.

Re: Conflict of emotion
I'm curious Charlie, is that some sort of Heinrich tank on the green bike? Love those racks above the cylinders, is someone producing them or were these home built?
Re: Conflict of emotion
Here's a bit o' bullshit from around the fire sunday morning.
The conversation is generally my brother Ken (in the pinstripe suit top) hanging shit on the harley rider.

Good one, Jeff. Humor of the week award goes to the guy with(out) the bandages on his hands.
