Not really sure, I bought the bike this way. I't really is a bit on the ugly side, but I ride to work all summer and would not want to be without in the rain.

It's got another headlight, so the wiring and ignition switch is in a small box between the bar and the instruments, which I also think of as not origionally mounted. Will get more pics but not this week...

I just checked my phot back earlier in the thread but realised I'd dumped that album on Picturetrail .So here's another .

She's an 81 ST , wearing a GS100 tank and a couple of US army hotboxes as panniers . They look a bit unusual but are excellent panniers ,water and dust tight and quick to remove .I like to ride dirt and as such she is a good girl .

Here name is Tilly , short for Matilda .

The panniers look great mate. You could offer these for sale on a case by case basis.

I love the GS tank , the original ST tank doesn't do it for me at all .I like the extra range too .

Gooday Sibbo, I really like those Boxes mate!, Where did you get em?, I suppose you could pick
up a set at a Disposal Store yes? I imagine the AUST. Army would have the same.
I've got an old set of Krauser types, abit flimsy & ratty and as for most, have to secure the lids with occys.
These look rugged as, and painted black I reckon they'd look cool on my 75. What did you pay for them,
whats the weight of each box, and volume? Also, how have you got them mounted to your bike? Cheers Jeff.

I'll post a few photos Jeff , they're 500 long x 330 deep x 220 wide .That's 36 litres each .They're a bit hard to find now but mine cost $65 each last year from a disposal shop in Sydney . You might find them up your way too .They're aluminium .I can't remember the weight each but it's pretty reasonable for the size .

The one shows the mounting ,it's 12mm HPDE mainly because its strong ,easy to machine ,light ,doesn't rattle , doesn't rust .About $30 worth for both panniers from my friendly local plastics supplier .$10 worth of 5mm stainless bolts and nylocs .




This is a photo of the inside ,I used a layer 10mm ply on the inside , the plastic ''nuts'' are cut out of HDPE with a hole saw and threaded , they work well .The threaded bar reaches through and is welded to the white painted sections of 40 x5mm steel which rotate upward and hook over the bike mounted frame .The black HDPE hooks are the main mounts ,the white sections push out of the way .... please excuse my lousy description .




This is the frame I welded up to suit , the BMW version wasn't too strong .This one is out of 1/2'' mild steel round and seems strong enough .I don't like things breaking away from home .
