Touring Arkansas

Post by CVA-42 »

I'm going to the Barber's Vintage Fest and will be leaving there on October 9 and riding to northwest Arkansas to tour around for a few days. Never been there but it has quite a reputation as a riding paradise. Any tips on what to see, roads to ride, places to stay?

For roads, go here and just click on the appropriate section of the map:

In the NW section is State Route 23, The Veg turned me on to it.

Also known as the "Pigpath" or "Pig Trail". Good stuff. I rode it on a return trip from Ken's one year.

Here is a nice page I found: http://mulberryriverjournal.com/page/2.aspx

Have fun!

Eureka Springs Arkansas is a real nice place to visit. It's up in the northwest corner with lots of mountain roads to ride. I used to go there from New Orleans when the summer temp and humidity make living on the Mississippi almost unbearable.

Thanks for the responses and the cool references. Rt. 7 and Rt. 23 are definitely on the agenda. I've downloaded a bunch of material and received some more motorcycle-oriented touring info from the Arkansas Convention and Visitors Bureau. Can't wait. Summer has been going on long enough here in the Deep South....
