Yeah, that seemed like an odd feature on a waterproof boot, but It might make more sense when you see how it's done (which I haven't).

You can have a stack of $100's a foot high and they are not worth a damn unless you spend them.

Well call me sentimental,
and I know they are not the safest boot,
but I like them so much that I no longer own shoes.
And I'm not even an Aussie. :mrgreen:

Some reasearch. The S-MX is not water proof, the S-MX WP is water proof but doesn't use Gore Tex.
Other than the toe slider protection, is similar in protection to the the Alpinestar Web Gortex that I am attempting to replace, so I'd be no further ahead on protection and left behind on breathe ability and water proof-ness. Still not finding a less expensive alternative.
