IF it's "correct," which Duane may even be able to tell us just from the excellent photos, I don't think the asking price would be much different here, but in U.S. dollars. Ebay often has very high prices. Whether he would actually get any bids of that amount is another matter, but I can't imagine a seller here letting it go for under $13,000 to $14,000 unless they were really strapped for cash.

I personally think it is kind of high, but I don't know the rarity of a 1954 model. I have been following the early R series on E-bay and in California for a couple of months. Most of the R60/2 I have seen are going for around $10,000. A nice restored R69S went for $14,500 on E-bay a month or so ago. Some original condition units seem to go a couple grand lower in the 8K range. I was eyeing a R50/2 myself, the owner wanted $4,500, which I thought was a good price. Not a large sample, but that is the range I have seen as the price they are going for right now.

That is a bit high as far as I know. The 54 isn't rare at all and may be the most common. It is what I have seen the most of in a single year model. A few sold in 55 and even 56, as one sales brochure shows.
Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.

An additional data point:
I have a 1954 R51/3 that is complete (with the exception of the front seat) and numbers matching, but very rough and currently scattered among 20 or so boxes and various shelves. It needs to be gone through COMPLETELY...front to back...top to bottom. I was recently offered $5000 cash by somebody who knows that market VERY well...while it would represent quite a profit for me, I'm just not ready to sell such a cool bike...I'm hoping it stays with me for quite some time. The same person recently sold one that was together and running, but it also needed everything...that one sold for $7000.
The post 1970 market is soft...the 55-69 market is pretty good...the plunger frame (and earlier) market seems to be pretty strong.
