Gasket (or not??) on fuel strainer on '92 GSPD petcock

Post by DonW »

Hello all, Pulled the petcocks on my '92 R100GSPD tank, and am confused. There is the new style filter/strainer (one piece with an aluminum ring attached at the bottom), but there is also a fiber washer. Does the washer belong there? THis is the first time I've had this part apart.

Thanks!

The strainer has the crush washer built in. The gasket ring is not needed when using the long strainer. Info sourced from maxbmw fiche.

Thanks Steve. That's what I thought, but wasn't sure.

On my 84 R100RS I had to use the gasket between the tank and the aluminum strainer to stop all leaks.

I think it comes down to use it or not, depending on what is required.
