Trans bearing whine vs gear whine?

I put about a hundred miles on today.

The whine is loudest at low (below 3000) rpms and is present fairly equally in all 5 gears. I'm pretty sure it is gear whine from the way it changes pitch as I change the load on the box. :( As rpms rise, somewhere around 4000, everything gets much more normal.

As a result parking lot, and side-street speeds are the noisiest, back-road puttering is mostly OK, and highway speeds are acceptable.


PS: The gloves are nice and waterproof but not as warm as I was expecting. I had to use my heated grips, and it took a long time for me to feel the heat.
