The value of a 1976 R75/6

What condition was it in before the crash? Any bags, fairing, accessories, upgrades? Around here, $3100 would buy a decent Airhead, but your location could be a factor too.

Yeah, Dave, I dont' even remember if you're in the U.S.. Location is vital.

I know around here that's a pretty good fair price for that bike unless it was concours, and that's a little tough to prove with a wreck (unless you've got trophies). R75/5's go for at least a grand more, especially with good toaster panels (you know, the ones everyone made fun of 40 years ago).

I'm in So Cal. $3100 won't replace an R75/6 but all the ones I see around here shiny restores and Cafe bobbers. The bike had no luggage. It is sounding like a reasonable offer, especially since the wreck got stolen.

Very good original condition, runs well. Green Metallic, near-new Continentals, recent fork overhaul and final drive re-seal, all service records since new. Small tank bag, Alaska Leather seat pad, cylinder guards, and battery charger included. The odometer is not working, but mileage is estimated at just 45K. Anyhow this is one sample asking price. It's at least in the ball park of the settlement offer. And if you look at the whole listing you might be able to develop your own idea of what a fair price would be.

Oh, and another thing. If you could negotiate keeping your old bike in the cash settlement, there is some value there. Of course you would have to be game to break the bike down and then market the parts, either on Ebay or IBMWR or even list them on Boxerworks (though I've never gone there to see what things may or may not be listed).

Good luck. Certainly getting you bike wrecked was a ton of bad luck.

Did the adjuster see it before it got stolen? If not, time to share a buncha pix of a REALLY SHINY bike with the insurance company. Just call google image search "R75/6" until you find one you like.....
