This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

Steve and Mal - pity you can't make it. See yez at Wee Jasper.

Pete, any chance you can get Glynn to take part, BMW gods and work schedules willing? His bike must be getting pretty close now (yeah, I know things can go wrong).

George of Bethanga has expressed interest, prolly just to the Walnuts for Saturday night. Might be carrying Phil and Jack in the outfit.

Doug of Yackandandah is also keen but has not confirmed.

Long range weather forecast is looking good: http://www.yr.no/place/Australia/New_So ... /long.html

Nah, asked him and he's gotta work and has other commitments (poor fool!). And
things can go wrong
we've gotta troubleshoot/fix his bike - which, for some inexplicable reason, is not running correctly. It's running poorly and backfiring (which seems to be confined to one cylinder). we've tried several things with no luck, but it was at the end of a long day. It'll prolly take at least another couple of hours of 'back to the basics' to get it sorted - hopefully. I'm unsure when he'll be up here to tackle it...

However, my mate Tom says he might head up to the Walnuts on Friday night. He'll probably be on his American airhead...

I'm still planning to get there Friday ~afternoon.

Lucky bastards!
weather up here is bewdiful for a ride, but old schtarker is still beheaded, waiting on bits-n-bobs from US & UK and some more friggin' free time would be good too.

Have fun!

Yep. Brunhilde is ready - tappets, timing and oil change done. She even had a wash.

I'll probably head off around 4 or 5-ish on Friday arvo, when the temp has got over the hump. See yez there.

Alas indeed, Doug. We'll do our best to have a bit of extra fun on your behalf.
I'd better get a decent red for the purpose.

ps: If it were me I'd prolly spread some nasty goop around in the bathroom and say that it needs to cure for 48 hours.

Well, I got back yesterday after a very enjoyable run with Pete from Angler's Rest over Falls Creek and along the Gundowring Road. It was a great weekend - lots of relaxing, drinking and bullshitting, interspersed with some spectacular rides. I took very few pics - perhaps others will have more.

Here's the Walnuts camp site, on the Snowy Creek (right-click and open image to see the rest of Jeff's RS) -

And the bikes at Mitta Mitta (so good they named it twice). This was on a sight-seeing run up to the Dartmouth Dam.

We stayed at The Walnuts for two nights and then Pete, Bob and I went over the hill to Anglers Rest and the Blue Duck Inn. Great little camping spot there on the Cobungra River. From there Bob headed south to the coast for the run home and Pete and I headed up over Mt Bogong. Both directions offer fabulous twisty pleasure. Thanks all for the good company. I'm looking forward to the next run.

Road report: The Omeo Highway is in the process of being sealed. They are working from each end and I reckon there is only another 20kms or so to be done. At the moment the dirt over the top has a lot of loose gravel but is otherwise in good condition. When sealing is finished (by the end of 2013, apparently) it will be a most spectacular road. The link from the Omeo Hway to Falls Creek is narrow, but now has a very good sealed surface.
