Searching for solo seat

Post by sinjun68 »

Hello all! I have ben seeing a number of bikes that are running what appear to be new (repro?) Denfeld police solo seats. I have searched quite a bit and have not been able to come up with one for my R100/7. I have found police solo seats but they seem to be much taller (loaf of bread) The Denfeld seems less thick and rises up in the front and rear of the seat. Any ideas if anyone is making repros of these?

looking for this:

Not this:

I suppose I might have little choice though.
Thanks for any info anyone might have.

Are you saying only 1 of the 4 links work?
I tried to upload the images themselves but got a warning saying the image post quota for the forum had been reached. So I opted for links instead. The 4 links seem to work for me however.

All the links worked for me. The third one is my '73 with a reproduction /6 solo seat from Stefanie Meyer, very comfortable and a great price. The top two are not any kind of BMW seat that I know of, judging by the welt pattern and thickness. Stock or reproduction /5 seats will have a white bead running around the back edge and diagonally down the sides and no welt pattern, like this: Image Perhaps you should contact the folks at Blitz Motorcycles and ask where they got theirs...

I was under the impression the first 2 seats were either original or repros of a Denfeld Police solo seat. In my research I have found quite a few (fairly recent) rebuilds of old airheads with these seats on them so I imagine they around somewhere but they are proving to be quite elusive.

S. Meyer does sell a /7 specific solo seat, but it does not match your photos: Image

Those first two seats look to me to be original style seat pans that were cut down and the covering was cut to match.

I agree with Kurt, that was my first impression.
