Spyder Ryder

Post by lrz »

Spotted last evening: toodling down the road upon the RS I came upon a CanAm Spyder-followed him for a few miles. Watching the Ryder through the turns reminded me of snow-mobiling at which point I began to wonder about their suitability for winter ice riding...anyone ever take a spin on one of these?

There are tons of them on the road here.
I only saw one that was really whipping along, over 100mph easy.
Most seem ridden conservatively by 'LeadWing' types that don't want to tip over when they stop.

They're neither common nor rare around here. You see one for every 50-100 motorcycles. So, on warm weeks, I'll see a couple every weekend.

I've talked to a few riders, and they all seem to love them. A lot of riders seem to either be older and have health issues that don't allow them to ride a motorcycle anymore, or older and returning after having not ridden for many years. I haven't met an owner under 50, although I'm sure they're out there. Part of the reason you don't see young riders is price: these things are friggin' expensive.

I haven't ridden one, but, my take is that I'd much rather ride one than drive a hack. Admittedly, I have a strong background in snowmobiles, so it's a riding style with which I'm already familiar.

That is the protocol for all riders of all new machines.

Even if someone is thinking they made a bad purchase and that their new machine doesn't live up to their expectations,
they won't admit it.

Case in point: I've been telling people I LOVE my overweight POS GS for 20 years and 400,000 kms
