Well I'm not sure about the track day part, but I do love the retro look. I'd sure like one if I was in the market for a new bike. Lots of things about the V7 really suit me.

Yeah, total poser. For about 9 grand MSRP you get about 48 HP and 54.7 Nm at the crank with a claimed weight of 436 lbs.. For comparison, a 10 grand Ducati Monster 796 is putting out 84 HP and 78Nm at the crank; claimed weight is 369 lbs. The Guzzi has a pleasant little motor to putt around on, as its peak torque comes on at 3600 rpm rather than the Duc's 6250, but as a cafe racer? Poser.
Oh yeah, single front disc compared to totally awesome brakes on the Duc. Again, Cafe Poser.

a FRIEND, FEMALE, HAD THE BIKE THAT WAS SHOWN AT THE START OF THE VIDEO. sHE'S JUST TRADED IT IN FOR A sUZUKI.

The bike she had surged despite a myriad of interventions and she got sick of things breaking or falling off. She also got sick of the shop not having basic stuff, eg clutch cables. Hers snapped within the first 12 months and they didn't have one in the shop. 3 weeks!
Poor quality, poor backup, poor service, nice underpowered motor. That was the only thing that suited her skills at the time. If she'd've been looked after, she might've persisted, but the shop treated her like a dumb girl.

I have to admit that the new 1200 Multistrada does appeal. First of all the engine is de-tuned for better low end torque. I love de-tuned sport engines. 24,000klm valve inspection intervals is also appealing. From what I've read this bike is a whole new deal. I was able to change cams is my Shitzuki without too much problem, so I imagine I should be able to manage a valve adjustment. This is the time of year I go into maintenance mode. I did a full tune up on my van today. Wires, dist cap and rotor, pvc valve, filters ect. Runs fine but what a PIA! My wrists are all scratched up from all the sharp edges around the spark plugs. The spark plug caps were a pain to get properly seated and just in general the manufacturers don't try to make maintenance a good time. Maybe this is why GSPD comes from Hell!

For the money you pay for a GS, the suspenders should already be top shelf! The Duck has Ohlins front and back. Both are in the same price range. Ducati's used to be way more than Beemers. Both the GS1200 and the Multistrada are a bit too chic for me. Form should follow function IMNSHO. Also the GS is way to ubiquitous where I live, as in everybody and their brother.
