It's been awhile guys...but I'm back.
Yep, did a search but only found SPORTS mufflers. Don't want that. What are the best OEM-sounding replacement mufflers for my '78 R100s? I put some used ones on about 8 or 9 years ago and they have lost some baffles so they make more noise now and I don't like that.
I'd really like something that makes as little noise as possible so I can sneak-up on other bikes...or even home after midnight.
Lots of ads out there...MAC even shows replacements with a /5 tip that really LOOK nice but no comments on the sound level. SOOOOOOOO....lets hear it from the forum.
Door is open.

I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Agreed. So quiet I can sneak out of the house at 0500 with the bike, but not with my Kombi.dougie wrote:http://www.keihan.co.uk/catalogue.html#
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.
Re: replacement mufflers
The Keihans look pretty good, but how do they sound (or NOT?).
I figure the VAT and shipping will add substantially to the cost, too.

Bobs BMW (and probably others) sell the Keihans here in the States... 'tain't cheap!
Re: replacement mufflers
I got mine from Motobins and did not pay VAT as they were being shipped away from the Euro zone and UK.Jean wrote:The Keihans look pretty good, but how do they sound (or NOT?).

I believe yours would be Motobins P/N 88520 262 GBP exc. VAT.
They sound nice, not loud.

They ought to outlast me if I don't bin the bike, even here by the coast.
If I do bin the bike, they'll likely expire only moments before me.....

Re: replacement mufflers
At todays exchange rate, the FOB price works out as approx. $421, so ordering straight from Keihan would be the best thing to do if VAT is not an issue. I think shipping would not be over $200...maybe more like $70?
Mel, If you DO bin the bike, throw your body under it and I'll buy your silencers from your estate. A few little scratches can be polished out.

Re: replacement mufflers
Bought a pair from J.C. Whitney about twelve years ago for the /7 for about 175. They still look good and perform.
