BMW questions

Post by Duane Ausherman »

It is nice to see the recent spate of questions about our old BMW motorcycles. I suggest first using Google to do a search of the Internet. Here is why.

1. While you can and might encounter some information that is in error, most of it is fairly high quality. You will decide for yourself which site information is written in a way that makes sense to you. You should bookmark the several sites that you may need in the future. Even better is to capture the pages on your computer, just in case the site goes away.

2. You get the information right now, and won’t have to wait the few days it takes for everyone to read it and answer.

3. If you track the answers over time, you will see that some individuals are expert only because they have a keyboard. They “want” to be admired and considered expert, but they just aren’t. The good news is that I see less of this among the few BMW forums that I visit than in some other hobbies and areas of interest.

4. Speaking for myself only, if I have treated the subject on my website, I rarely will answer the question. I have already typed it up with photos, so why should I type it again? Nearly all of my articles have been edited dozens of times to reflect a greater variety of questions I have seen over the years. It is true that I have a few places where my information is confusing and it has kindly been pointed out to me. It is collected for correction when I return to spending time on my site. I have been working for the past 6 years and have made few corrections or additions to my material. I do hope to get back to it one day.

Advantages to asking directly............. after doing the research.

1. New materials and/or procedures have been brought up that could well be superior to the old ways.

2. You may ask a very targeted question that gets answered by a reader who has great expertise in one narrow area that will supply exactly what you need. Those in depth answers by people from whom we may never have heard from before is quite gratifying.
Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.

Hello Duane,
I know that if you were to provide a printable PDF, or actually print booklets of all your information, i would gladly purchase one.
