Not really, Steve. The first thing I noticed on mine was that the holes for the pin spanner were elongated in the tightening direction and the chrome tubes were actually flared out where the caps had been screwed in. By an angry gorilla, I suspect. I exhausted all the usual possibilities at my place without success after trashing two pin spanners, including using lots of heat and 'Footprints' plumber's grips that chewed up the caps. I put them back together and kept riding, sans oil. Then, at Pete's place I took his suggestion and cut flats in the caps first. It took both of us with a big shifter and cheater bar to get them off.SteveD wrote:

The only reason I can think of for those caps to be so tight is that Ikon gets a lot more work refurbishing them. Ikon Albury, which trades under the name of 'Proven Products', quoted me $100 - 120 each to replace the seals, "if nothing goes wrong".
