You missed the trump card Major, PITA quoting Duane as liking socialised medicine.

Obviously PITA is channeling ZM and his amazing quoting skills.

WAIT!

Perhaps this is evidence that PITA is not who we thought he is. Perhaps he doesn't exist at all and is just an alter-ego of ZM. This quote moment was his big slip up. After all, "Pan" couldn't age, just like a zombie.

I've always thought ZM was a PITA....

Read Duanes comment again? I didn't alter it.

I don't know if we have 'socialized medicine". I'd call that a bullshit buzzword tho'. But that's me.

What we do have is a system where some people are making fantastic amounts of money at the cost of a lot of people not getting good care. This gets overlooked for the most part, as best I can tell. This results in some people having a strong distaste for things being other than as they are---they don't want to give up all that cash. You can get as much medical care, justice or legislation as you can afford. That's the US system. People that are making huge amounts of money can control the legislation that gets written. The American people elect the people that make the laws according to how much money those candidates can put together to convince the voters that they are the ones for the job. The voters are stupid, by and large, and will do whatever their Television tells them to do. The vast majority of US homes have a shrine to that television as a central part of the home. people that can pay to have their mugs on all those televisions yakking about how great they are, get the job. This takes a lot of money and that money comes from people that want to see the things be a particular way, and can pay to get people elected that see things their way (gee, I wonder why). Never mind the medical system, campaign finance reform is going nowhere. I have to give Obama a lot of credit just for taking it on. He may not have been able to achieve great success, but he opened a crack in the wall. Someday things will be better---but not as long as those vast profits are in the way.

I got a look into Australian oncology care recently talking to a patient who was visiting here. Very different than in the US. Sharp eye on cost benefit ratios. Here, it's all about how much money can we make---you can be the most hopeless case and as long as there is a dime to be made giving you more treatment, you'll be pushed hard to get it.

Talking to British diabetics, you can get as much out of their system as you got money. You can get government care, but if you want good care, you hire a private doctor.

I can get decent care from the county clinic here. But If I want a top flite endocrinologist or neurologist, I better have a lot of money. Even private insurance won't touch those fees.

But to get back to bikes, last I heard the average medical cost of a motorcycle accident w/ injuries was 11,000USD. An average says little, and the nfo is old, but I carry a 5,000USD med. payments rider on my bike policy in case of a broken leg or something. With the new medical I'll be getting, I'll still carry it to cover deductibles if possible--with medicaid it may not work.

Read it again yourself. Yes you did.

You put ME109's words in Duane's mouth.

When TWO of us say you've done something, you'd better look at least twice before you just dismiss it as not true.

Selective brutality. ;)

PITA, those two words get everyone skeltering as all the lights go out.

Bit like Bilbo's encounter with the elves in Mirkwood.

Someone will 'present' Diane. They always do in difficult times like this.
Btw, those 'two words' were, dare I say, 'who's Diane'?
