I am getting rid of BMW parts and I still have seven of those top plates. They vary in condition and series. Some are /6, which are chrome plated and may have the notches for the pods. The /5 and /6 must be modified to get the forks in alignment.

Some may be slightly bent, but that is hard to see and easy to flatten out again. The only way they go really bad is for the center hole to get wallowed out.

I can also send the portion of the lower clamp and an engine stud to make up a fork alignment tool like is shown on my website. You must provide the dial indicator and do one simple weld.

I'd take one or two Duane...paypal and post to Oz? equipo5, one of our new posters, has an early 75/5 and would like to remove his current top fork plate. To make it simpler, I can forward one to boxertwinjeff easy enough.

That nice sounding quote led to the largest social failure in the history of mankind. It is exactly backwards of what works. Humans operate in self interest. Always have and always will. From this they make voluntary exchanges that are in the best interest of both parties.

Yes, apparently the Planning Bureau lost interest in/ability to monitor the distribution of /5 fork top plates some time ago, allowing an "invisible hand" to pile some of them up in Duane's garage. But, perhaps at like many houses, an "invisible foot" eventually intervenes and prompts a redistribution of assets that benefits the community as a whole. This is probably better than leaving this task to the "invisible hand of the executor", and so the community expresses it's collective gratitude to the "invisible foot".
