I don't know if they'll want to go slow, but the other part is a given.Sibbo wrote:I wonder how their sales will go as the run out of baby boomers ? Will young guys used to Japanese rocket get old, fat and want to go slow ?

Fat is not mandatory, just probable.

Don't forget that the loss of hearing, could make them a little more appealing

When I snapped the picture, she said "I like it this way!".
I think they just use it in place of foreplay.

"Real Motorcycle" riders wonder how Harleys can be so popular, but the reality is, they have their own charm and its not just with people that saw Easy Rider in the theater. Torque Monsters are fun and their limits don't come into play the way their owners use them. What may pass, but I doubt it, is the Village people look of much of their fan base. I hope the tube tops on the women remain. What will eventually change, through force of law, is the need to saw the mufflers off. The emissions people will probably force them to change some aspects of their design, but the big, thumping, torque filled qualities will persist.Sibbo wrote:I wonder how their sales will go as the run out of baby boomers ? The Clubs around here, at least the ones I see in the Hill Country, are not very scary. Mostly old guys who are real people in real life and just dress funny on the weekends. This was not the case in New Mexico, where some of the gangs, with ape hanger handle bars and tail pipe extensions that stuck out three feet behind the bike, looked like they might be full time crazy and I felt a little intimidated riding down the road behind them on my R65 in my mesh and armored bike duds.
On the subject of making too much noise; The Texas Hill country is a riding paradise that is just outside San Antonio and Austin. The small towns can't enforce the noise laws as their communities make a boat load of money off the bikers, the huge majority of which are noisy Harleys. Austin and San Antonio on the other hand, wouldn't suffer much from enforcing the laws and they would be doing the Hill Country towns a huge favor by cracking down.

I don't doubt the charms of a gentling chuffing Harley, it's not quite me but I do understand. It's mainly old guys here, some younger but not enough to make a replacement market ... that's the point I was trying to make. Will enough young guys get off their Ducatis and Kawasakis and onto Harleys to maintain the brand ?

Maybe Harley riders are like some religious cults, and try to have as many babies as they can to ensure a future for their god.
