Front Brake Hose Clip?
Re: Front Brake Hose Clip?
The Brembo style Ate or the Brembo setup had the mc at the handlebar and the hoses took a different route.
On the faired bikes, the hoses exit the fairing about level with the top of the crash bar after connecting with the steel tube from the splitter. The connection is seated in the fairing grommet. That's about the same spot where the earlier Ate hoses come out. There is a piece of wire available that attaches there to hold the hose in position. It seems it's rare to see, but I think that's what it's for.

Re: Front Brake Hose Clip?
[quote="moosehead"]On my old 77 S with twin ATE calipers, the 2 brake lines from the MC ran through 2 "P" clips and rubber grommets . These clips were mounted to the inboard side of the frame down tubes with the nut and bolt of the horn mounts.
Can get them at Motobins.com...this is P clip...just wrap around grommet and use horn mount bolt to mount (inside down tube - engine side)...they're listed under Brake Parts Hoses ...just use their part number
And rubber grommet...its split so can slide brake hose in
My old 77...not very good pic of mounting. It also had cylinder guards mounted later (although not in this pic) and had no binding or catching the brake hoses...the P clips kept the hoses in board of the cylinder guard mounts on down tubes
Thanks Moosehead, I actually have these parts, but they mount very close to the splitter, as Steve says and so they don't do much to keep the hoses clear of the crash bars, as they do on your bike...weird. maybe my hoses have twisted slightly...
I just had another look and mounting the wire clip on the mudguard mounting bolt won't help either.( too far away)
The pic of the Red R100S seems to have the answer. It *looks* like the wire is mounted *to* the crash bar and faces up.
.
Munichs don't show the wire ( I guess I can bend some up, problem is making them the same and neat )
I found some here:

Re: Front Brake Hose Clip?
Steve, with the clips holding the brake lines in place, they didn't come close to fouling on the engine guard upper mount...maybe you're right...your lines may be twisted. Try changing them from side to side and maybe they will line up better? Just a thought.
When I did finally put the cylinder guards on that bike I changed out the old brake lines to stainless later on. Still no fouling on the guards. Don't have the bike anymore so can't do a pic showing how the lines routed up...inside the down tubes then out to the brakes.

Re: Front Brake Hose Clip?
Thanks Moosehead,
I have rummaged through all my BMW books and I've found only a couple of pics that show the wire clip and grommet on bikes with crash bars.
I suspect that these parts came with the crash bar kit and were extra insurance for the brake hoses, so they didn't foul on them. The original P clamps would have been ok without crash bars.
They are not required on bikes without crash bars.
It looks like all the parts( 6 in all, each side ) shown in the pic SteveD posted , were intended to be used to mount the hose support, and I think alot of people didn't bother and just fitted the wire to the crash bar bolt. (most of the parts are probably NLA anyway )
I'll try tweaking the hoses and/or see if I can mod it without trying to hunt down all those small parts....

Re: Front Brake Hose Clip?
I have 'untwisted' the brake hoses and the situation has improved. Still not sure if I trust them not catching...will re-visit when I'm on the road.

Ah ha....now I see what you mean..re: clips on the engine guards. Didn't have any of those...but I do recall having a clip like that on my old GS...for the single brake line that was on that bike.
I never really noticed any fouling of the brake lines on the S with the guard on....learn something new every day

Re: Front Brake Hose Clip?
Ok, He has just got the wire clips without the grommets. I can understand not having the grommets as you would have to disconnect the lines to fit them and that would work just as well.
I'm going to have to bend up some wire clips. I did end up finding an old badly bent example in my box of parts. I might be able to use that as a pattern.....
I have also deciphered the parts pic that you posted before. It looks like originally, a bolt with a tab is fitted to the end of the crash bar ( facing up ) and the wire clip is secured to that. Obviously every one thinks that's silly and just uses the existing crash bar bolt.
Not if I'll follow suit or not yet....

Re: Front Brake Hose Clip?
Good morning,
I am a newby to this site as I am looking for a source for this brake line routing hose clip. My question is what is the part number or what is it off of?
