R75/5 on tour

This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

Thanks for the comments... sorry 'bout the size of the pics, still working out how to post them relatively efficiently.

She'llbe: I doubt Rocket would b seen on old Britt iron. He's a BM man mainly and one of the quickest riders I know of, present company excluded...
But I think you might know a mate of his, Mick, who has a v nice& quick mono R80. He work in the macadamia biz and says he knows you. I've got a pic of his bike. I'll post it sooner (or later).

Just completed a second reading. An exceptional report, Pete.
I haven't been to Lightning Ridge (yet) but it's on the list now. Amongst all that blokiness it was good to see the 'lesbian-friendly' rainbow on the side of the co-op building:

But this one is a favourite - a comfortable riverside camp at day's end. One could do a fine bit of contemplating there.

Likewise this one, though having Slashie lie down alarmingly may have coloured your view of the place.

Sounds like you had some pretty good fortune getting to Lismore with that punctured tyre. Well done, all.
I just want to get out there on the road now. Sigh ...

What a great write up Pete. There's nuthin' like tootling around the country catching up with friends.
Sounds like Melbourne's traditional wet welcome home was waiting for you too!

Great report Pete
I was especially interested in the Ridge stuff. I am one of the mine regulators that administer the claims up there. On the whole we have a good relationship with the miners and I love the diversity of humans that I meet. Eastern Europeans are the order of the day and plenty of stories to tell. I never start the day up there without a plunge in the bore baths. Artesian water comes from over 1000m down to refresh the body and soul.
Hope to catch up again soon Pete.

To right, The Ridge is one unique corner of the country...

I was only there for a couple of nights and barely scratched the surface... And you really do have to get under the surface to start to understand the madness.

Plenty of stories of ppl stopping by for a short visit then never leaving. But apparently the GFC really knocked the stuffing out of the place - there was like four or five the number of ppl up there scratching around during the 80s and early 90s.

We may well live in the 21st century, but up there... there's a fever in the air that's from another time and place altogether. (I was expecting to run into Al Swearengen at any moment.)

When you get to California, please stop in for the night. How you rode it here will make a good story.
Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.

Nope. American Financial Crisis is all we ever notice.
