Jeff,
The housing seems to still be available for bikes made 9/1980 onward. At least, the online fiche at MaxBMW indicates as such. I know I purchased one about a year ago. FYI, if you do purchase a new one from BMW, the screws are different and they require grease otherwise the screw could break. DAMHIK. You should get an extra screw and use it first on each hole. Better yet, when you buy it from a dealer, pay to have them do it. It's a very costly part to fuck up. I got lucky and the dealer was able to salvage mine, but they did it at their cost.

He's doing fine and will be four in February. Although, sometimes I wonder if my sanity will make to his next birthday--I joke a bit and say that I wonder if he will make it to his next birthday. But, I could never really hurt the guy, so it's my sanity that would be lost. While I enjoy being with him, I do wish I could get out on the bike from time to time. It's a long story and one I don't wish to post online, but I do need to watch him when he's not a daycare.

Got one!

I paid more than anyone else for a housing on ebay. Less than a hundred bucks posted from Germany.

Last week I bid up to double that and missed out. But I sure made the sucker who won pay too much!

Now I know how to buy something from ebay, it's amazing.

And tonight I saw..........a tank! No dents!! It even looks the same paint scheme as my airplane bike.
My God! a straight/unscratched /un-stoneblasted tank for my airplane bike.
It would be like having that unsightly wart removed from the nose of an otherwise beautiful woman. Well, I mean she is knocked around a bit but that's ok.

Shipping to Oz might be a deal breaker on a tank. :?:

You'd think so. However, it's not too bad sometimes. I've had a full R100RS fairing shipped from Europe for around OZ$120. That's pretty good, especially when the article is at a very reasonable price relative to local.

Postage is listed at $77 Au.
The tank has a start price of $125 thereabouts.

I have recently bought an instrument housing from James Sherlock. Check out: http://www.james-sherlock.co.uk/compone ... ory_id=657
If the type shown is not what you need they may have it anyway - just send them an e-mail.
