My bike was on fire, the road was on fire, and I was on fire.
It was the best ride ever!"
Doug,
Glad you've isolated the problem. I scanned this thread to see if I might add anything. Nope! Great replies! This thread is an excellent reference for trouble-shooting a suspected starter problem.
Final chapter in my battery/starter motor saga.. I took the offending battery back to Bockmanns where they put it ontto a load tester... result wis theoretically fullcharged, but very low power output available... the battery was (as we say colloquially in Aus, ) rooted!
With a replacement new battery on board, she goes!!... fired first go.. and we soared off up the road!!
Who would have thought that a new battery was at fault and not the grimey old electrical innards of a 26y/o bike!!... Well maybe I shouldnt be surprised... and have more respect for the original engineering of my R65... which, incidently, I now have considerably more intimate knowledge than previously!... So the sun is shining and the road is beckoning again!
Thanks again for your ideas...
Doug
You should address your Invoices to Bockmann's Batteries, Hume Street Albury!!!... and good luck!!
