Dellorto R90 Carbs with frozen slides

I dunked the carbs in the ATF/Acetone solution for about an hour each and WOW, they came right apart.
And WOW, that stuff smells awful! Holy crap... i feel like it is stuck in my lungs...

Check out the condition of the slides though. They aren't that bad to the touch, but they look scary.
Replace or run them?

Buff them with fine steel wool, see how they look.

How is the bore of the Dellorto body itself , i suppose this is the most important thing as cost wise?. Polish the slides and see how they come up , all of these parts are available new.Try any really good Ducati shop for these parts, the shop i deal with here in OZ is Gowanloch Ducati are brilliant.

The bodies appear like they are OK. Just lots of gunk/goo in them. Especially in the float area. I hope all the small passages can get unclogged eventually. The atomizer and other screws/jets/needles will probably need to be replaced.

Sounds like they may be usable again. When the main body and the slide is super clean , give the slide a run in the bore and see how it feels.Just finished working on my Dellortos on fitting new throttle cable angle tubes on top of them.My slide in the bore are really smooth to operate. see how you go.

Be careful how long you leave the carburetor body in your ultrasonic cleaner. When I did the carburetor on one of my cars using just dish soap and water for an extended period it took the finish off the body. I have had it take Parkerizing off firearm parts.

To be honest , i thought that the ultrasonic cleaners would be very gentle on parts. I have used my parts washer to clean a very old rifle that looks like it hasn't been cleaned properly since it left the factory in the very early 1900's.
