Bloody hell Charlie, we will make a safety officer out of you yet!Airbear wrote:Beemer goodness and a Carberry tragedy. Should we all be carrying fire extinguishers? It would be horrible to watch one's pride and joy going up in flames. A little Dry Powder extinguisher used in the first 15 seconds could have saved that machine.

Sounds good, Mal. Better perhaps than the Tia Falls, which on reflection is a bit exposed, and somewhat limited with flat tent sites. Just tried to find Platypus Flats, and there is this site -Mal S7 wrote:Egads! What a waste of a classy machine.
I have had a campsite recommendation from someone local to the area.
Platypus Flats in Cathedral NP. River, BBQ, not too popular, and no fees.

It is in a different national park, a bit north of Dorrigo, in the same general area. I wonder if it's the same as the one recommended. Sounds pretty good anyway.
Glad to hear you'll be at the Alpine. See you in two weeks.

That's pretty close to Dundurrabin, there's a business there call Cockatoo Creek Timbers if any attendees are woodies . I've met the bloke and dealt with him when I had my mill, he has a very good range of local timbers.

Yeah that'd probably be it. My communications on this are a bit hazy,Airbear wrote:

To the right of Dundurrabin, just the other side of where the rivers meet...I think.

It appears the Platypus Flat Campground is currently closed. They had some very big floods through North East NSW earlier in the year. Select the Alert button on the link

Thanks for that, Gary. Maybe it will be un-closed by Spring.
There are other NP camp grounds in the general area.

Just back from SteveC's place. We wrangled the heads off his bike so he can send them off for the full treatment, yes, the beard-trim and bikini wax!
Steve is too slack to re-register on this forum but is keen on the run up North and reckons the Dorrigo Pub would be a great place for us all to get together.
