I don't know about that Sibbo. Look how long Mt. Warning is supposed to be closed for work, I reckon it'll take twice as long.

The whole Mt Warning track washed out, that will take a LOT of handwork to rebuild but a truck accessible camping ground should be a lot easier to repair. Maybe.

There is a lot of damage out there to fix up, it will take a long time to fix it all.

Hi Mal and others. Yes I did need a little prompting but I've eventually re-registered and back posting.
I may sound like a pussy but I did suggest to Mal that the Dorrigo pub is a pearl. I could be convinced otherwise.
Heads on the 78RS went in yesterday and the work should be completed next week. New seats both inlet and exhaust, guides, springs and valves. Mal we better book a return weekend soon to put the old girl back together.
Some light scoring on a small section of each pushrod. Down where it enters the crank case. Does that sound unusual?

Gday Steve, let me know when your heads are done and I will get back for a visit.
Re:the pushrods. Does anyone know what might cause wear in one spot down a pushrod? It's like the pushrod has been rubbing against something, and as it rotates, this wear has created fret marks right around. I thought it might have come from a head gasket that intruded into the push-rod tubes.... but Steve didn't thing it was on the right spot on the tube ... and then I left him to it.
cheers
Mal

Is there any possibility the pushrod was installed backwards, intentionally or otherwise? I've seen wear from them rubbing on the pushrod tube where it enters the head, due to the rocker blocks being installed too low.

Welcome back, Steve of Orange.
Yeah, the Dorrigo pub looks like a proper country pub. But does it have proper country pub prices? The dollar issue usually stops me from staying in pubs, because I'm
a cheap bastard not very wealthy and camping is free, mostly. Anyway, Spring is the other side of Winter and plenty of time to earn more money and make considered decisions. It is a lovely looking pub, and I can imagine the bullshit flowing freely on the upper verandah. Would they let us have a fire?
One more sleep till the Alpine rally.

I don't think they want you sitting around a fire and bullshitting.
