If I flew down to San Francisco in January and rented a bike, would I have decent riding weather?

By BC standards you'd be fine. Bring your raingear, and you're better off heading south. Hwy 1 will probably still be closed south of Big Sur as they deal with a huge slide.
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.
