1984 R100S

So I heard an Airhead the other day with some aftermarket exhausts. It really had one of the best motorcycle sounds I have ever heard. Not loud, but warm and deep. I've always run stock type mufflers because I don't feel that folks need to hear my noise. But I would now like to hear that kind of sound. My bike has dual cross pipes. I wonder what would be a nice set of mufflers for my bike. Hopefully ones that do not look out of place on my R100. Not looking for a two into one set up. I want to keep my center stand and my Browns side stand.

Any recommendations?

You might like these, ZM.
Staintune sports custom. 44mm ducati internals iirc. Stock sport are 40mm internal baffle.
They have tone, they're also loudish with a handfull. They sound good.
But the stock sports model also has excellent deep tone, but not as loud.

The standard Staintune sports should be reasonably readily available. The custom sports are easy enough to obtain also. I waited three weeks for my customs to be made. Beautifully made.
I can easily contact the guy who made mine, if needed.
I paid $1400 AU. Not sure where the Canadian $ is but now's a good time to buy from Aus, particularly with US $.

I have one of these on my 2 in 1 1000cc R75/7 and it sounds good.
Has enough flow to cope, I tried on standard Staintune and it didnt.
Fitted right on using the stock bracket and cleared the brake pedal without a dent.
A bit cheaper than the Staintunes , quality is as they claim, excellent.
You only need about 70 cents to buy a Oz dollar, but Oz post will remove most of that benefit, it is just ridiculous.

My Staintunes are a mix of tone and percussion. My shed stops vibrating half a second after the engine stops.
The shed never vibrated with the Overland mufflers I used to run.

My left Overland muffler fell off 45 k's from Broken Hill, late in the afternoon. It did a few cartwheels and ended up well off the road. I hit it back on with a somewhat padded rock. Some copper wire and a twich for the rear mount and I was outa there. I felt like Charlton Heston, needing to get home before dark. Roos everywhere.

And of course that led to the Staintune muffler justification. I've run staintune headers for several years so it's a matching set now.

A friend of mine had a set of Hoske's on his 90/6. Loved the sound of those and have always said they would be my next pipes when needed. Starting to get a hole in the bottom of one, so it won't be long now. ebay Germany
