I like mine. Probably because I don't know any better.

An irrational fondness for obsolete antique motorcycles ?

That's why I had a /2. What does it have to do with a nice modern /6?

Because it's the best of all airhead worlds. Much better performance (R90/6) than lower cc bikes and comparable to most R100's. Proven reliability.
Good mpg, better looks (my opinion), and easily modified, or converted to an R90S scheme. Also, a stronger case and better oiling than a /5, better compression ratio than most R100's.

Much easier access to everything in the headlight bucket, too. The '74 model had some one year only oddness, but big +1 on the 900cc!

If you get a /6... the bikes built in 9/75 and later are considered the best. They will have wiring that matches the diagrams in the books and will have the 11mm flywheel bolts, big seal camshaft, large pushrod tubes, and o-ring seals on the cylinder barrels with 99mm spigots. The latter makes it easy to upgrade to 1000cc jugs if you ever choose too. My bike was built in 8/75. I had "unique" wiring, small push rod tubes, shims instead of o-rings on the barrels, small seals on the camshaft, and 97mm spigots on the case. I do have 11mm (intead of 10mm) flywheel bolts though.

The '76 has caught my eye. Now, I don't know how realistic or reasonable another bike would be but I am looking aound...
