I like the 11 rib gaiters that I see on the "S" bikes, but am not sure how they would fit on Monolever forks.
My 1987 bike has 38.6mm diameter forks as opposed to the 36mm on previous bikes.
Those gaiters look beefy enough that I could enlarge the top opening a bit with a small sanding drum in a Dremel (if necessary).
But I need a couple of measurements -
1. With my forks fully extended (centrestand + wheel off the floor) they would need to be 9 inches long.
2. The diameter of the bottom slider where the gaiters fit on is 53mm.
Any one got a moment to measure theirs?
Fork gaiter question... ZM? Jeff? Anyone?

I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Gidday Doug, on my bike. 9" from bottom of triple tree to top of slider-fully extended. Approx 53mm top of slider where gaiter fits.
11 rib gaiters.
The gaiters will stretch to fit your larger diameter forks.

Have no idea how they look 'cause I don't look at them, but I used GS gaitors. They fit fine at the top and the bottom fits over the original rubber dirt boot at the bottom. '85 R80.
They are probably ugly.

I'm in the process finding gaiters for another bike. I've been hearing a lot about Rancho part number 1952.Rancho gaiters (actually shock absorber covers, but work perfectly as gaiters). I think they are available from. Lordco, maybe Napa. Happy hunting!dougie wrote:I like the 11 rib gaiters that I see on the "S" bikes, but am not sure how they would fit on Monolever forks.

What's that about?
Dunno, I don't have it.

The spacer sits around the fork tube at the top, just below the lower yoke. The gaiter fits around the spacer.
The spacer "seals" the otherwise open gaiter at the top, whilst allowing compressed air to vent under braking.
The spacer has a hole in it, where the small vent tube (seen in the yoke) is sited.
I doubt they're a mandatory part, but they serve a purpose nonetheless.
