Cooler riding pants

Post by Zombie Master »

Everytime I leave the Coast it gets hot. When I was down in Oregon it was too dam hot. I've been riding the hot weather with BMW City Pants (armored jeans), but they are too hot too. But when I'm touring I hate to bring stuff. The less I bring the better the ride. I bought a set of saddle bags years ago, but can't bring myself to use them. I'll mount them to the bike and just take them back off. So I was looking at these:

They are mesh and come with 2 liners. One is rain and wind prof, and the other one is insulated.

I figure I might get away with just bringing the rain liner. I can carry insulated leggings. Then all I would need were a pair of jeans to wear when not riding.

Anybody use these or pants like these? BMW has something similar but they want $600.+ tax :o . I'm not getting bent over like that.

Shorts, tank top, and sandles?
I see rocket scientists riding like that all the time.
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Here is the pant I bought: http://motoport.worldsecuresystems.com/ ... evlar_Pant

Very bulky feeling. If I had been able to try some on beforehand, I might have kept looking.

One nice thing about them is that they are available in silver, which makes them a lot cooler at city speeds.

One downside I see is it is quite a production to stop and put in the waterproof liner on the side of the road.

On the plus side is they are available in Vancouver at http://www.baysideperformance.ca/index. ... s_id=15578 at a better price than I can find here on the Island.

They look like good protection.

They look interesting. I like the stand alone liner.

I found the rain liners for my mesh pants WAY too confining. I'll just put a rain suit on over them.

Same for the jacket. The liner is great for warmth (and I do use it), but in the rain, the water goes through the mesh, hits the liner, and runs down into your glove.

Wear the glove within the jacket. Then the water will run down the outer glove.

If the cuffs fasten well enough, the wind will stay out.
