All 1000cc Nikasil barrels are interchangeable starting from 1981, no?

Here you have it Curt. What's the matter? Haven't followed your bike endeavours close enough.

I dropped a valve last spring, knocked a hold in the piston, beat the head to death and scored the cylinder.

All the 1000cc Niks are the same.
I thought you were asking if they were interchangeable with non-Nikasil cylinders.

Dirt bike engine rebuild shops can repair and re-plate them to like new, even when they look like scrap.
Figure about $250- $300.
I've sent many seized/scored snowmobile and dirt bike cylinders to this place with excellent results.
Haven't tried it with BMW cylinders yet.
