Did a nice 300 mile loop today
I was wondering if there is a way to use Google maps to show the route? If I Google Cowhichan Lake BC, I see the lake we went around and also some photos of the area. Anybody know how to use this effectively? I would like to be able to show a route by posting a link.

If you are hooked up with Google Earth and have a Garmin gps(maybe others too), you can overlay a recorded track from the gps onto the Google Earth map and save it. I don't really know how to do it, but my nephew did it on our hunting club property after riding around the trails with his four wheeler and gps.

I think Rob knows how to use links to Google maps. Actually I think he knows how to embed the map. Not me though.

I think Rob could be trained to enjoy anything with a little encouragement, the right equipment and accessories.Zombie Master wrote:I think Rob is miffed at me. Perhaps if you were to remove the beret and bring something nice to drink?
I have used Google maps to produce routes. I start with the hometown, then 'Add Destination', punching in towns along the route. Hit 'Get Directions' occasionally and a blue route line will be shown on the map. As for embedding in a post, there are 'link' and 'embed' buttons available, but I typically just save the screen to a JPG and post that.
The advantage to having the link is that viewers can zoom in on Satellite view and see every delicious bend in the road. Try some experimenting.
