Brown v Surefoot

Post by SteveD »

The Brown appears to hold the bike slightly taller.

The Surefoot has a small plate as the contact point to the ground.

Both seem more sturdy than the oem stand.

Funny that after 36 years and 140,000 miles my OEM stand still holds the bike up. I use it about as often as I use the center stand. I think occasionally greasing the stud helped keep the wear to a minimum.

Rear tires appear to be different. Different tires have different diameters and will change the geometry for the side and center stands.

I like my Surefoot.
But I did add a 3/8" aluminium pad to the foot.

To me, there's just something happy looking about bikes all packed up for touring and camping.

Edit: my R65 has a Surefoot stand.

Doesn't the left footpeg have to be sent off to do some welding with the Surefoot?

That might be true on pre '85 bikes.
Monolever bikes like my '87 don't require it.
