R80 heads on a R100RT

Post by Nourish »

I want to get some work done on my '89 R100RT Mono heads and have been told that a pair of '79 R80 heads will fit temporary while I get the work done, to enable me to swap the rocker gear over I have to take the rocker pedalstool seats out of the head - how is that done? and what head gaskets should I use?. Cheers

Use R100 headgaskets. You can jerk the rocker block supports out with a slide hammer and a small bushing puller head on it. It may help to warm the heads up in the oven before you do it. You may be able to gently tap them out from the bottom of the head using a drift.

You also need to check the squishband area to make sure there is adiquate clearance between the pistonn and the gasket mating surface of the R80 heads.
