I listed an old coat on eBay for riding a motorcycle used by the German Border Patrol back in the late 50s or early 60s. It has the split in the middle for riding normally. It is for bad weather and is heavy. After 5 days, not a single bid. Doesn’t anybody try to wear authentic apparel when showing bikes at antique and classic shows? It is item 141063077996.
I wore it a couple of times at the Visalia antique motorcycle show back in the middle 70s. It is really cool. It is so German.

You've got 3 bids now with 1 day 19 hours to go. Bid is at $26.87
Perhaps your post resulted in 3 Boxerworks members in a minor bidding war?

Re: Authentic German Border Patrol rain coat
I have received several off-line comments/suggestions. One gave me this link to a repop coat that is similar. http://www.surcompany.com/listing11-lea ... cycle.html
I must admit that I was very surprised that I didn't have a single bid until I mentioned it here and on the /2 list. They wouldn't be making them new if there wasn't some sort of demand. Since I never wore it on the bike in the rain, I can't say how effective it is.
One comment was that the shipping was too expensive. This is one very heavy coat. The firm that is selling them again also has expensive shipping.
I am just glad to see stuff going away. One set of /6 forks that are perfectly straight only brought $45. I listed a rebuilt crankshaft for a 1937-38 R61 and it only brought $10. That was the biggest surprise of all.
Now to go photograph more junk and get it listed.

LOL, I can depend upon you to catch me in typos and just plain different thinking. Thanks, that is funny.
What are you talking about, it looks ok to me.

I saw it too, but dammit if the Major wasn't faster than I.

Few of us beats out the Major.
I just mailed the coat off this morning. The postage only came to $20, so I refunded the $10 extra.
I think that mentioning it here and on another forum is what got me some bids. I have sold more than 1400 items and only twice done such a tacky thing as mention it on a forum. Thanks for putting up with my advertising.
