Barber installed a new fence all the way around the track this year for the Indy Cars which left maybe two spots that you can take photos close to the track. The two spots in question were not intended to be areas for taking pictures though. You can take unobstructed shots if you get higher on the hills to be above the fence with a 400mm lens for the areas further away, but not high enough for the stretch in front of you. The average camera that the general public has is all but useless now because the riders looks like ants and auto focus will focus in on the fence instead of the rider. Even with my 10x I had a hard time. I sent a nice & polite letter to them with the linked picture because I felt it was better to address the subject than not.

Anyway, my question is....
Are all the other tracks this way?

Just think how safe you will be.

Maybe the ticket prices will go down since the insurance will have less risk

Michigan International Speedway has tall fences –

"In 1998 three fans were killed during the CART US 500 at Michigan International Speedway,
beginning a downward spiral in attendance at MIS for open-wheeled racing that continues to this day,
even though the Michigan fences were drastically improved.
In 1999 three spectators were killed during an IRL race at Lowe's Motor Speedway;
soon afterwards tire tethers were required in both series."
