Barber installed a new fence all the way around the track this year for the Indy Cars which left maybe two spots that you can take photos close to the track. The two spots in question were not intended to be areas for taking pictures though. You can take unobstructed shots if you get higher on the hills to be above the fence with a 400mm lens for the areas further away, but not high enough for the stretch in front of you. The average camera that the general public has is all but useless now because the riders looks like ants and auto focus will focus in on the fence instead of the rider. Even with my 10x I had a hard time. I sent a nice & polite letter to them with the linked picture because I felt it was better to address the subject than not.
