Re: 77RS Orphan
Yeah, good price if it's truly a 77RS. I'd like to see the VIN. and mileage...Still, it needs an awful lot of work. From the pics it's not got the correct wheels, calipers, other stuff? I don't see the upper fairing bracket and that little spider is spendy! Still, at less than 3K, anybody have any room for another bike?
Re: 77RS Orphan
AMEN. Lots of /7s and S's have been magically transformed into RS's...
I've got one in my garage...but I didn't PAY an RS price for it!! It was a '77 R100s, and it cost about $2400...14 years ago.
Just BE CAREFUL

Indeed. Some bikes, even if they're running, can amount to a running basket case. And basket cases invariably need parts, and those parts are going to be expensive.Jean wrote:. . . Just BE CAREFUL
What I say isn't necessarily a given though. I just get real nervous when parts are 'included' with the bike rather than being bolted on to it.
Just BE CAREFUL.

I bought mine new and this one looks the same re: wheels, calipers, etc.?????
Re: 77RS Orphan $1950
ah.....yeah. From the looks of the picture, the wheels dint look like the matte finish with the blue stripes....everyone goes on and on about the correct wheels...Though one could pinstripe and clear coat a correct finish on any stock spoke wheel. The first year RS had calipers of a light blue cast instead of the silver cast of the other models. Again, these could be replicated with a metal "bluing", or anodized procedure. Or in the case of my sun-bleached calipers, simply painted blue (looks like crap!).

on my 77 RS blue color of calipiers had faded
That's strange : here in France, RS and RT are cheap BMW all peoples take them, take off the fairing and try to do some café-racer
Only 77 RS are a must have here, but you can find them for around 3000USD
